Having a greyhound, as with any other pet, is a serious responsibility. It requires a long-term commitment for the life of the dog. Our goal is to be sure that this responsibility, as well as the financial, psychological and physical needs of each greyhound are met in its new home.

It is very true that not every person who desires to own a pet should own a pet.

This application has been designed to help prospective greyhound adopters address the issues that would directly affect their home. It also helps you check your suitability for a greyhound and aide us in applicant evaluation.

Do you understand that rescued greyhounds sometimes come to RESCUED RACERS with medical conditions, and we treat all conditions that present themselves while the dogs are in our foster home network. This can include teeth extractions, cyst removals, treatment for internal parasites like hook worm and whip worm, and repair of broken legs. Please note: Our policy is "no surprises," so we inform our adopters of any existing medical conditions. At times, some of our greyhounds are listed as "Special Needs" dogs. However, some ailments don't present themselves immediately. RESCUED RACERS is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, and we raise funds to treat ailments only while dogs are in our care. Once a greyhound is adopted, the owner assumes all future medical costs for any diagnoses made after the date of adoption.
