RESCUED RACERS MISSION STATEMENT
We are one of the only greyhound rescue groups in the country that accepts all greyhounds. Greyhounds adopted directly from racetracks or from other adoption groups with a "no-return" policy frequently wind up at shelters or worse. We accept shelter greyhounds and greyhounds with no racing tattoos, as well.
Our open-door policy includes ill, injured or senior dogs. No greyhound is ever turned away, regardless of its age, color or physical condition. We will keep any dog for as long as it takes to find just the right home.
While many of these "special needs and senior" dogs stay with us for longer periods of time, we believe they deserve a home just as much as younger, healthier greyhounds who might be easier to place.
Making the transition from professional athlete to family pet isn't always easy, and our volunteers are available for follow-up assistance to help the dogs reach their full potential as "couch potatoes." Should something happen where an individual or family cannot keep their greyhound, we always welcome our dogs back.
