Henrietta
We first heard about Henrietta in October 2004. At that time, no group had stepped forward to take on this medical challenge. The surgery cost alone was daunting. But we were determined to help this little 18-month-old girl get the surgery she needed and find her Forever Home.
Upon an initial examination in Kansas City, Henrietta presented with a history of inability to maintain endurance during racing. Medical examination determined that she had a herniated diaphragm. This enabled her intestines to enter into her chest cavity and wrap around her heart. A group in her area took notice and began searching for a rescue group to take her. We responded to that need.
When Henrietta arrived in St. Louis, we enlisted the help of Veterinary Specialty Services. Further examination determined that her condition could be completely corrected with surgery. Without hesitation, we scheduled her for surgery to repair her herniated diaphragm. It went smoothly and we were assured that she would not have any long lasting complications.
Since her surgery, Henrietta has recovered completely as predicted. She is a very active girl; we think that she is making up for lost time. She is enjoying life as a pet and has even found her Forever Home.
