Upcoming Dog Hauls: Volunteers Needed

Rescued Racers is a local 501c3 non-profit organization staffed entirely by volunteers. We are very involved in greyhound rescue and adoption

Gift Wrapping for Donations

An important Fund Raiser that Rescued Racers does every year is Gift Wrapping at Borders Book Stores. Borders Books has allowed us to set up a table near their front door where we bring in some of our greyhounds to greet people as they come in and we wrap their purchases for a donation.

We are in need of volunteers to help us this year with greeting people and wrapping presents. For the dates and times, click on our Calendar page.

on the local and national level. Our motto of "let a greyhound race into your heart" is taken to heart by all of our team members.

In order to achieve a high success rate in our rescue efforts, we rely on our team of volunteers that works many tireless hours with only one thought in mind - the more we do, the more dogs we can save. As you can see by our Events List, Rescued Racers is very prominent in community activities promoting greyhounds as pets. Our adopters love "showing off" their hounds and telling people what wonderful pets they make.

Rescued Racers has many volunteer opportunities for all talents. We understand that everyone has busy lives and cannot commit many hours volunteering. You can choose your own schedule, what type of job you would be interested in and volunteer as much time as your schedule permits. Every volunteer adds to the success of the team!

Here is a list of typical volunteer opportunities:

  • Attend Meet/Greets to introduce people to greyhounds and what wonderful pets they make
  • Keep alert for any event that Rescued Racers might participate in (i.e., local festivals, parades, nursing home visits, school events, Scouting events, etc.)
    • School or after-school activities visits
    • Nursing home visits
    • Foster care
    • Fund-raising
    • Help with telephone calls
    • Help with mailings
    • Place posters, business cards, or brochures in your vet office
    • Take business cards with you as you walk your greyhound
  • GIFT WRAPPING FOR DONATIONS

If you do not see something you would like to do on the list, contact someone on the Rescued Racers staff to offer your suggestions.

As all of our volunteer team will attest - greyhound rescue is a rewarding experience.

REMEMBER that sometime in the past, someone went out of their way for your precious greyhound. Now you can do the same for other greyhounds so that they will get their chance at being a pet.
